The University of Houston dropped from No. 1 to No. 3 in the Associated Press men’s college basketball poll after it lost to Temple at home on Sunday.
Purdue moved back to No. 1, receiving 39 of 62 first-place votes Monday. Alabama was second with 23 first-place votes. Only 16 points separated the top two spots.
Tennessee is fourth, followed by Kansas State, which made the biggest leap of the week from 13th to fifth. Arizona, Virginia, UCLA, Kansas and Texas round out the top 10. TCU, which upset then-No. 2 Kansas, was 11th and Baylor moved up four spots to No. 17.
